Australia will be providing online nursing education for more students by the end of the decade, as part of the country’s efforts to attract more young people to nursing and primary care.
The government will start providing the education in 2020, with the aim of providing online programs for over 10,300 students.
Education Minister Fiona Nash says the program is one of the most important and valuable ways for young people, who are now in their 20s and 30s, to get their first steps in the profession.
She says the programs are a way for them to hone their nursing skills and learn skills that will allow them to work in the industry, while also providing them with opportunities to explore new areas of nursing practice.
Ms Nash says in addition to online nursing, the government will also expand the number of opportunities available to students through the National Network of Nursing Schools.
She said: “We have a massive population of people who are in the workplace in Australia and the majority of them are older than 65.
The National Network for Nursing Schools (NNNS) will be responsible for overseeing and managing the online nursing program, which will be managed by the NSW Government. “
Our goal is to make that demand as high as possible and to make it available to as many young people as possible.”

Ms Gillard says the NNNS is already well-established and well-funded, with a total of over 5,400 students enrolled, and she hopes that the program will become more widespread as the economy improves.
She believes the program could also be a significant stepping stone to further online nursing training.
“It’s very exciting to see the growth in the number and the growth of the NNS, especially as it becomes available in different languages,” she said.
Ms Nash said the government is also committed to expanding the NNP program and the opportunities it offers. “
And so it’s a real opportunity for us to provide more opportunities for those young people.”
